The England commercial landscape

England’s commercial geography follows its strategic road network. The M1 and M6 form the main north-south routes, the M62 crosses the Pennines between Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and Hull, the M4 and M5 serve the south and west, and the M25 rings London. The Midlands, where our head office sits, is within reach of most of these corridors.

Each region has its own security profile:

  • London and the South East: multi-tenant offices, a heavy construction pipeline, and Channel and Solent port logistics.
  • The East of England: container ports at Felixstowe and on the Thames estuary, life sciences in Cambridge, and the Sizewell C programme.
  • The West Midlands and East Midlands: automotive and advanced manufacturing, HS2 construction and the distribution parks of the Golden Triangle.
  • Yorkshire and the Humber, the North West and the North East: city-centre regeneration, M62 and M6 logistics, and port and industrial redevelopment on the Mersey, Humber and Tees.
  • The South West: major energy and manufacturing projects in Somerset alongside dispersed rural sites.

Eight English Freeports were announced in March 2021: East Midlands, Felixstowe and Harwich, Humber, Liverpool City Region, Plymouth and South Devon, Solent, Teesside and Thames. Many of their tax sites are being developed for logistics, manufacturing and energy, creating demand for construction and operational security.

Local security requirements

Buyers procuring security across England usually need:

  • One set of standards and reporting across all sites, with local variations written into site-specific assignment instructions.
  • Clear evidence of SIA licensing for officers and of the provider’s ACS approval scope.
  • Realistic mobilisation plans for each site, rather than blanket promises of national coverage.
  • CCTV arrangements that comply with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the ICO’s video surveillance guidance.

Our guide to choosing a nationwide security provider sets out the questions to ask.

How we mobilise and manage contracts here

Each English contract starts with a site survey and risk discussion, followed by written assignment instructions, officer assignment and a mobilisation date agreed with you. Supervision, patrol records and incident reports are reviewed centrally, and contract reviews take place at agreed intervals.

We do not quote fixed response times in advance; alarm response times are agreed per contract. Short-notice requests go through emergency security cover, with availability confirmed per site.

Services in England
Do you cover all of England?

Yes. Seccuro provides services across England, as well as Scotland and Wales. The site survey also confirms what you need to provide, such as site plans, access arrangements and alarm details.

Where are you based?

Birmingham, as shown in the facts above. We do not have regional branch offices. Officers are assigned to each site, and site visits, supervisory checks and contract reviews are planned centrally.

Can one contract cover sites in several regions?

Yes. Multi-site contracts can use a common scope, reporting format and review schedule, with site-specific assignment instructions for each location. This helps facilities and procurement teams compare performance across sites. Each site keeps its own risk assessment, contacts and escalation routes, so local differences are not lost.
