Derby’s economy is built on precision engineering: civil aerospace, rail rolling stock and automotive manufacturing, with a long tail of suppliers on the business parks around the A38, A50 and A52. These clients care most about controlled access, confidentiality and evidence that procedures are followed. Seccuro has no Derby office.

The Derby commercial landscape

Rolls-Royce has its civil aerospace headquarters in Sinfin, in the south of the city. Beside it, Infinity Park Derby, a 100-acre technology and commercial park, is a partnership between Derby City Council, the Harpur Crewe Estate, Rolls-Royce and Infinity Park Derby LLP. It was given Enterprise Zone status in 2016, is part of the East Midlands Investment Zone and is reached from A50 junction 3 via Infinity Park Way. Alstom’s Litchurch Lane works continues Derby’s long history of train building. To the south-west, Toyota’s Burnaston plant in South Derbyshire sits next to the East Midlands Intermodal Park, one of the three East Midlands Freeport sites.

Pride Park, beside the railway station and Derby County’s stadium, is the city’s main office and business park. In the centre, the Becketwell regeneration has delivered new homes, a public square and the Vaillant Live performance venue, which opened in 2025. The refurbished Market Hall reopened the same year.

The A38 runs through the city. National Highways has consent and confirmed funding for the A38 Derby Junctions scheme at Kingsway, Markeaton and Little Eaton, but at the time of writing no construction start date had been published.

Local security requirements

Derby’s engineering clients ask detailed questions before appointing a security supplier. We expect to cover:

  • Screening: SIA licence checks for every officer, and any additional screening your customers require. BS 7858 is the screening standard often referenced. We explain our process, but we do not claim certification.
  • Confidentiality: officers working at sites with export-controlled or commercially sensitive work follow your rules on photography, phones and escorting.
  • Shutdowns: factory shutdown weeks often need extra patrols or temporary guarding while staff are away.
  • Evidence: timed digital patrol records and incident reports that your quality or security manager can audit.

How we mobilise and manage contracts here

We survey each Derby site, write assignment instructions with your security or facilities lead, assign and brief officers, and set a supervision schedule. Patrol vehicles are marked and satellite-tracked, and officers use wearable digital patrol recording. Our 24-hour control room supports officers on shift. Mobilisation dates are agreed per site, and we confirm how alarm response will be resourced before you sign.

Services in Derby
Can your officers follow a manufacturer’s own site security rules?

Yes. Assignment instructions are written around your rules, such as visitor escort, restricted areas, photography bans and vehicle checks. Officers are briefed on them before starting, and any departure from procedure is reported as an incident.

Can you provide extra cover during a factory shutdown?

Yes. Shutdown periods are a common time for theft and unauthorised entry because sites are quiet. We can add static officers, increase patrol frequency or provide security dog handling for large perimeters for the shutdown dates only.

Can you secure premises affected by roadworks on the A38?

If future works on the A38 junctions change access to your site, we can review patrol routes, lock-up times and CCTV coverage. Plans would be agreed once the programme is known.
