Security for Hotels, Hospitality and Leisure Venues
Leisure environments are named in Seccuro’s own service copy.

Hospitality security protects guests, staff and property in hotels, leisure centres and similar venues. It typically includes night security officers supporting a small duty team, front-of-house presence, patrols of corridors, car parks and back-of-house areas, response to incidents and alarms, and support for evacuation and welfare procedures.

Security that fits the guest experience
Hotels and leisure venues sell an experience, so security has to be calm, courteous and largely unseen until it is needed. Officers are briefed on your service standards as well as security procedures. They support the reception team with late arrivals and non-residents, patrol guest floors and back-of-house areas, and deal with disturbances quietly and early.
Night shifts are often the most exposed. A hotel may have only a night manager and porter on duty for hundreds of guests. A security officer adds a second responder for noise complaints, intoxicated guests, medical emergencies and fire alarm activations.
Licensed areas and door supervision
Where security staff control entry to, or behaviour in, a bar, function room or venue operating under a premises licence for alcohol or regulated entertainment, they may need an SIA Door Supervisor licence rather than a Security Guarding licence. Licence conditions under the Licensing Act 2003 may also specify door supervisors. We assess the licensing position for each venue and agree the licence types required before any deployment.
Preparing for Martyn’s Law
The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 received Royal Assent in April 2025 with an implementation period of at least 24 months. Once in force, qualifying premises where 200 to 799 people may be present will need public protection procedures, and premises of 800 or more will face enhanced duties, regulated by the SIA. Officers can support your procedures for evacuation, invacuation, lockdown and communication.
What we need to know to scope the site
We usually agree with hospitality clients:
- Guest interaction standards and dress expectations.
- Procedures for non-residents, room access and lost keys.
- Fire alarm, evacuation and lockdown responsibilities.
- Escalation contacts and police liaison arrangements.
Deployment options
- Night officer: One officer supporting the night team through the quietest, highest-risk hours.
- Event and peak cover: Extra officers for functions, weekends and seasonal peaks.
- Response-only: Keyholding, alarm response and lock and unlock for venues closed overnight.
Compliance considerations
Officers carrying out guarding hold an SIA Security Guarding licence. CCTV must follow UK GDPR and ICO guidance.
Security technology
We provide remote monitoring with 24-hour control room support, and mobile patrols with satellite-tracked marked vehicles and digital visit reports.
Reporting
Officers keep an occurrence log of patrols, guest incidents, alarms and police contact. Incidents are written up for the duty manager, and we agree a regular summary for general and operations managers.
Questions
Will security officers spoil the guest experience?
Not if they are briefed properly. Officers are instructed on your service standards and dress expectations, greet guests courteously and deal with problems discreetly. Many guests find a calm, visible presence reassuring, particularly late at night and in car parks.
Does Martyn’s Law apply to hotels?
Whether a hotel or leisure venue is in scope depends on its uses and the number of people who may be present, as defined in the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025. The Act is not expected to be in force before April 2027. Check current Home Office and SIA guidance for your premises.
Can you provide security for a single function?
Yes. Seccuro provides event security for functions, conferences and private events, scoped to the expected numbers, guest profile and venue. Tell us the date, timings and attendance, and whether alcohol is served, so we can confirm officer numbers and licence types.
