Leicester sits at the centre of the UK’s “golden triangle” of distribution. The M1 runs down the western side of the city and meets the M69 at junction 21. Within easy reach are major logistics parks, plus a dense retail cluster on the city’s south-western edge. The city itself is diverse and has a busy public events calendar. Seccuro has no office in Leicester.

The Leicester commercial landscape
Meridian Business Park, at the intersection of the M1 (junction 21) and the M69 about three miles south-west of the city centre, mixes office, industrial and warehouse space on the A563 ring road. Next to it, Fosse Park is one of the UK’s largest out-of-town shopping destinations. South of the city, Magna Park Lutterworth, near M1 junction 20, is a very large dedicated distribution park run by GLP. To the north-west, the East Midlands Freeport includes the East Midlands Airport and Gateway industrial cluster in north-west Leicestershire, around SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway and its rail freight interchange.
North of the city centre, the former Pioneer Park has become Space City Leicester. Leicester City Council, the University of Leicester, the National Space Centre and partners launched the cluster in 2023, around Space Park Leicester and the Dock workspaces. In the centre, Highcross, the Cultural Quarter and the stadiums of Leicester City and Leicester Tigers bring visitors in, while the Belgrave Road “Golden Mile” hosts Diwali events that draw very large crowds each autumn.
Local security requirements
Leicester’s logistics and retail clients usually measure security by losses and by evidence. Before mobilisation we agree:
- gate procedures that fit the site’s transport management and yard systems, including what officers record for each vehicle;
- patrol frequencies for trailer parks and fence lines, varied to avoid predictable routines;
- how retail incidents are logged and shared with landlords, tenants and police;
- for events, a written split of duties between our officers, stewards and any SIA Door Supervisors the event requires;
- CCTV responsibilities, including who controls footage and retention, under UK GDPR.
Pay for officers on these contracts is built from at least the National Living Wage, which is £12.71 an hour from 1 April 2026, plus the costs of licensing, supervision and cover.
How we mobilise and manage contracts here
We survey each Leicester site, agree assignment instructions, assign and brief officers, and set a supervision schedule. Mobile patrols use marked, satellite-tracked vehicles, and wearable digital recording time-stamps each check. Our 24-hour control room supports officers on shift. Start dates and alarm attendance times are agreed per site.
Questions
Can you guard a distribution centre near the M1 in Leicestershire?
Yes. Our guarding service can be configured for gatehouse, yard and perimeter work at distribution sites. That includes driver sign-in, vehicle checks against bookings, trailer seal recording where required and patrols of fence lines and trailer parks. Procedures are written with your transport and site managers.
Can you provide security at Fosse Park or other retail parks?
We can provide officers for individual retailers or for landlords and managing agents. Duties typically include visible patrols, store support, car park checks and incident logs that the landlord and tenants can use. Your scope sets whether officers work inside a store or in common areas.
Do you support large events such as Diwali in Leicester?
We can provide guarding for event infrastructure, perimeters and back-of-house areas, working within the organiser’s event management plan. Crowd management roles that need SIA Door Supervisor licences are identified at quotation stage.
Can security dogs patrol a large logistics site?
Yes, where a risk assessment supports it. A trained handler stays present and in control of the dog at all times, as the Guard Dogs Act 1975 requires, and warning notices are displayed at entrances. Dog patrols are often used for large perimeters during holiday shutdowns.
