Seccuro’s Manchester work is mostly about large, busy sites with constant vehicle movements: distribution sheds, multi-tenant estates and occupied buildings next to live construction. Clients here usually need a guarding plan that keeps goods and people moving at the gate, not a guard who just watches a door. Every officer doing licensable work holds the right SIA front-line licence.

This page covers the districts we are asked about most often, the requirements that tend to shape a Manchester specification, and how a contract is mobilised.
The Manchester commercial landscape
Trafford Park is one of the largest industrial estates in Europe. Trafford Council describes it as employing around 35,000 people, with occupiers that include national distribution and manufacturing operations. Its mix of food processing, logistics and trade counters means many sites run around the clock, with HGV traffic peaking overnight. Beside the Manchester Ship Canal at Barton, Peel’s Port Salford development adds canal-linked warehousing to the same western corridor around the M60 and M62.
To the south, Manchester Airport City is a designated enterprise zone (listed by government alongside Corridor Manchester). It links the airport with nearby business, logistics and health-related sites around Wythenshawe. Sites there often combine office reception duties with airside-adjacent logistics yards. Further west, MediaCityUK on the Ship Canal straddles Salford and Trafford. It is home to the BBC, ITV studios, dock10 and the University of Salford, and its studios, offices and public realm see a constant flow of visitors and contractors.
Local security requirements
Three things tend to shape a Manchester specification:
- Twenty-four-hour estates. Many Trafford Park and M60-corridor sites never close. Guarding has to fit shift patterns, and gatehouse officers need clear rules for driver identification, out-of-hours deliveries and goods-in discrepancies.
- Events and crowded places. Manchester has a large stadium, arena and conference calendar. The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, known as Martyn’s Law after Martyn Hett, who was killed in the 2017 Manchester Arena attack, received Royal Assent in April 2025 with an implementation period of at least 24 months. Venue operators should review their preparedness now. Seccuro can support event days within its guarding scope. Where door supervision is needed, licences are assessed per event.
- Construction density. Several sites in one district can share the same out-of-hours risk. Off-grid CCTV towers and wireless scaffold alarm cameras reduce how many guarded hours are needed.
How we mobilise and manage contracts here
Seccuro has no Manchester office. Officers are assigned to each Manchester contract and briefed on site-specific assignment instructions before the first shift. A typical mobilisation includes a site survey, written assignment instructions, an induction with your site team, and agreed reporting lines. Mobile patrol, keyholding and alarm response coverage in Greater Manchester is agreed per site. We do not quote standard response times. Any times are set and confirmed in the contract.
Questions
Can you provide gatehouse security on Trafford Park around the clock?
Yes. Seccuro’s guarding service can be set up for continuous 24/7 gatehouse cover, with officers working an agreed shift pattern. Assignment instructions set out vehicle checks, driver sign-in, seal recording and escalation contacts, and every shift produces a written record.
How does Martyn’s Law affect venues in Manchester?
Duties depend on venue capacity. Operators should check the latest government guidance. Seccuro can provide guarding support but is not a legal adviser.
Can CCTV towers replace night guards on a Manchester construction site?
Often in part. Off-grid CCTV towers with remote monitoring can cover perimeters and compounds overnight. A guard may still be needed for gate control or high-value deliveries. We review the site layout during the survey and suggest a mix based on your risk.
