North East England covers Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, County Durham and the Tees Valley. Security demand is shaped by heavy industry and its redevelopment, automotive manufacturing and its supply chain, and a city-centre office and leisure economy in Newcastle and Gateshead.

Seccuro provides security guarding, construction site security, mobile patrols, keyholding and alarm response, security dog handling and CCTV towers across the region. We do not have a North East office, and officers are assigned to each site.

The North East commercial landscape

The A1(M) and A19 are the region’s main north-south routes, with the A1 continuing north through Northumberland and the A66 and A69 running west. The Tyne and Wear Metro and the East Coast Main Line link Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and Durham.

North of the Tees, seven councils form the North East mayoral authority: County Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside and Sunderland. It was formed as the North East Combined Authority in May 2024 and renamed the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority on 18 May 2026. Nissan’s car plant on the Sunderland and Washington boundary, beside the A19, anchors an automotive supply chain across Tyne and Wear and County Durham, and business parks near the A1(M) and A19 host manufacturing and logistics occupiers.

On Teesside, the Teesworks site at Redcar, on the banks of the River Tees, describes itself as the UK’s largest freeport and Europe’s largest brownfield site, with a development area of more than 2,000 acres. Teesside is one of the eight English Freeports. Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Hartlepool and Darlington add chemicals, port, engineering and logistics activity, with Newton Aycliffe an important manufacturing location in County Durham.

Local security requirements

Requirements we commonly scope here include:

  • Long perimeters on former industrial land, where lighting and power may be limited.
  • Plant, cable and metal theft risk on construction and demolition sites, which often justifies a mix of towers, patrols and static cover.
  • Shutdown and holiday cover for manufacturing sites.
  • Empty commercial premises awaiting regeneration, covered by vacant property inspections.

Where security dogs are used, the Guard Dogs Act 1975 requires a handler to be present and in control, with warning notices displayed at entrances.

How we mobilise and manage contracts here

We survey the site, agree a written scope and assignment instructions, and assign officers holding the relevant SIA front-line licence. Mobilisation is agreed per site, and we do not quote travel or response times in advance.

Patrol logs, alarm activations and incident reports are reviewed centrally, with contract reviews at agreed intervals. Short-notice cover can be requested through emergency security cover, subject to confirmation.

Do you cover Teesside as well as Tyneside?

Yes. We cover the whole region, including both Teesside and Tyneside. Remote sites may suit camera systems and planned patrols.

Can you secure a large brownfield or demolition site?

Our construction site security service can be configured for large brownfield sites using perimeter patrols, off-grid CCTV towers with remote monitoring, static officers at access points and security dog handling where justified. We scope it around the site’s phasing and the contractor’s rules.

Do you work for automotive manufacturers in the region?

We do not claim existing automotive clients in the North East. Our guarding, keyholding and patrol services can be configured for manufacturing and supplier sites, including access control at shift changes and cover during planned shutdowns. Duties are written around your site rules.

What do your incident reports include?

Reports record the time, location, what was observed, actions taken, who was notified and any follow-up needed. Mobile patrols produce a digital report for each visit, and an incident report is produced after every alarm activation. Reports are shared with your nominated contacts.
