Nottingham has one of the East Midlands’ busiest evening economies. Its two universities, Test cricket ground and football grounds all bring large crowds into the city. Meanwhile, the clearance of the former Broad Marsh shopping centre is reshaping the southern side of the city centre. Security in Nottingham is therefore often about people as much as property: managing visitors, crowds and open sites next to busy streets.

Seccuro has no Nottingham office. Leisure, sporting and event environments are among those our guarding service covers.

The Nottingham commercial landscape

Broad Marsh is the largest regeneration site in the city centre. Homes England has acquired the former shopping centre, the adjoining car park, the former college site and Severns House. Demolition is now under way across all three parts of the site, ahead of a BDP and Heatherwick masterplan for around 1,000 homes plus commercial and community space. A development partner is expected to be appointed in 2027, so clearance and meanwhile security will be a feature of the area for some time.

The Nottingham Enterprise Zone, designated in 2011, covers about 116 hectares across part of the Boots campus in Beeston, Beeston Business Park, Nottingham Science Park and the MediPark site at the Queen’s Medical Centre. It is aimed at health, life sciences and innovation businesses.

To the south-west, the former Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station, which closed in 2024, is one of the three East Midlands Freeport sites, alongside SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway at M1 junction 24. The city centre’s leisure core runs from the Old Market Square through the Lace Market and Hockley.

Local security requirements

Nottingham contracts often involve the public. We pay particular attention to:

  • Licence type: whether a role is security guarding or door supervision, which depends on the premises and activity, not the job title.
  • Crowd interfaces: how officers work with event stewards, venue staff and the police, and who is responsible for each area.
  • Martyn’s Law: the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 received Royal Assent in 2025 and has an implementation period. Venue operators may want help reviewing procedures, and we describe our role carefully.
  • Open sites in public view: CCTV towers on clearance sites need clear signage and data handling in line with UK GDPR and ICO guidance.

How we mobilise and manage contracts here

We survey each Nottingham site or venue, write assignment instructions and event-specific briefings, and assign and brief officers before the start date. Supervisors attend at agreed intervals and for significant events. Patrol vehicles are marked and satellite-tracked, and each visit produces a digital report. Our 24-hour control room supports officers on shift. Mobilisation lead times are agreed per contract and are longer for large events.

Services in Nottingham
Can you supply door supervisors for a venue in Nottingham city centre?

Licensed premises usually need SIA-licensed Door Supervisors during licensable hours. We will assess the venue and tell you which roles need that licence before we quote, rather than supplying the wrong licence type.

Can you secure a demolition or clearance site near Broad Marsh?

Yes. Clearance sites next to busy streets usually need hoarding inspections, gate control while contractors are working and out-of-hours CCTV towers or patrols. We align our plan with the principal contractor’s site rules and logistics plan.

Do you provide security for events and fixtures?

We provide guarding for event perimeters, back-of-house areas, compounds and overnight infrastructure. Our officers work within the organiser’s event management plan, alongside stewards and venue staff, and their responsibilities are set out before the event.

Can you cover a science park or research campus in the Enterprise Zone?

Yes. Typical services include reception and visitor control, patrols between buildings, lock-down checks and alarm response out of hours. Laboratories may have restricted areas, and officers follow your access rules and escort procedures.
