Wolverhampton’s security needs fall into two distinct areas. To the north, the M54 corridor has some of the West Midlands’ largest modern manufacturing sites. In the centre, a compact city core with a university, a new college campus, a rebuilt transport interchange and a major football stadium generates footfall at very different times of day. Seccuro has no office in Wolverhampton.

The Wolverhampton commercial landscape
i54 South Staffordshire, at junction 2 of the M54, is the largest of the 19 sites in the Black Country Enterprise Zone. It is a joint venture between Staffordshire County Council, the City of Wolverhampton Council and South Staffordshire Council, and is home to Jaguar Land Rover’s Engine Manufacturing Centre among other advanced engineering occupiers. Nearby land on Wobaston Road and the A449 Stafford Road forms part of the same enterprise zone.
In the city centre, the Wolverhampton Interchange programme rebuilt the railway station, with phase one opening in 2020. The West Midlands Metro extension to the station opened in September 2023, linking rail, bus and tram. The council’s City Learning Quarter project has delivered a new City of Wolverhampton College campus on Bilston Street, completed in 2025, with further works on the Alan Garner Centre and Central Library still to follow.
Molineux and the University of Wolverhampton’s city and Springfield campuses bring large crowds and student activity into the centre. The ring road and the A41, A449 and A4123 radials connect the city to the M54 and M6.
Local security requirements
Manufacturing clients on the M54 corridor typically ask for detailed gate procedures. These cover vehicle searches where agreed, driver sign-in, visitor inductions and checks against expected delivery lists. City-centre clients ask more often about evening exposure, matchday disruption and alarm response. We also consider:
- whether an officer’s duties include anything licensable as door supervision or CCTV (public space surveillance);
- handover arrangements when a construction site becomes an occupied building;
- integrating officers with existing access control and CCTV, and handling footage in line with ICO guidance;
- reporting that a client’s own health, safety and security teams can audit.
How we mobilise and manage contracts here
After a survey of each Wolverhampton site we prepare assignment instructions with you, brief the officers assigned to the contract and set a schedule of supervisory visits. Patrols use marked, satellite-tracked vehicles and wearable digital recording, so every visit is time-stamped in your report. Our 24-hour control room supports officers on shift. Start dates and alarm attendance times are agreed for each site.
Questions
Can you run a gatehouse on a manufacturing site near i54?
Yes. Gatehouse officers can control staff and visitor access, check HGVs against delivery schedules, issue passes and patrol car parks and perimeters. Large manufacturers usually have their own security standards, and we write assignment instructions to match them.
Do you offer extra cover for premises near Molineux on matchdays?
We can add officers, patrols or lock-up checks on scheduled match and event days. Because fixtures are known in advance, these visits can be planned into the contract and listed in the assignment instructions.
Can you secure a building during construction and then after handover?
Yes. Many projects need gate guarding and CCTV towers during works, then reception or lock and unlock services once the building is occupied. We can plan both phases so the transition at handover is documented and keys are formally transferred.
