In Solihull our work is weighted towards corporate premises, managed business parks and events, where reception security and access control matter as much as overnight protection.

The Solihull commercial landscape

Much of Solihull’s commercial activity is concentrated in the area the West Midlands Combined Authority calls the UK Central Hub: roughly 1,300 hectares around junction 6 of the M42. It contains Birmingham Airport, the NEC, Birmingham International station, Birmingham Business Park and Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull plant on Lode Lane. Further south, Blythe Valley Business Park near M42 junction 4 is another office and research location in the borough.

The main development site is Arden Cross, around 140 hectares east of the NEC, where HS2’s Interchange station is planned. The landowner consortium is planning a mixed-use district with up to six million sq ft of commercial space and up to 3,000 homes. Timings depend on the wider HS2 programme, so we treat Arden Cross as a long-term pipeline of enabling works and phased construction, not a single project.

Solihull town centre, around Touchwood and the high street, adds retail and evening-economy premises. North Solihull, around Chelmsley Wood, has housing-led regeneration and local centres of its own.

Local security requirements

Solihull clients usually expect corporate-standard presentation and documented procedures. Points we cover at survey stage include:

  • reception and visitor procedures, including how officers handle couriers, contractors and VIP visitors;
  • shared-site arrangements on business parks, where landlord and tenant security responsibilities differ;
  • event-specific risk assessments for exhibitions, including whether any role needs an SIA Door Supervisor licence;
  • CCTV signage and data handling under UK GDPR for parks with shared camera systems;
  • out-of-hours alarm response for offices that close at weekends.

How we mobilise and manage contracts here

We survey each Solihull site, agree assignment instructions, brief the officers assigned to your contract and carry out supervisory visits during the term. Patrol vehicles are marked and satellite-tracked, and each visit generates a digital report. Because the borough is next door to our office, managers can attend for reviews and incidents without an overnight trip. Start dates and attendance times are agreed for each site rather than promised in advance.

Services in Solihull
Can you provide security for an exhibition at the NEC?

We can provide guarding for exhibitors and organisers, such as stand security and overnight cover during build and breakdown. The venue will have its own security arrangements and rules for contractors, so we agree our scope with you and work within the venue’s procedures.

Can one patrol contract cover several units on a business park?

Yes. A managing agent or landlord can commission patrols across a whole park, with each unit listed in the assignment instructions. Every visit is recorded digitally, so the report shows which buildings were checked and when.

Can you secure early works at Arden Cross or other HS2-related sites?

We can secure enabling-works and construction sites using gate guarding, patrols, CCTV towers and scaffold alarm cameras. Main contractors on major infrastructure programmes set their own security requirements, and we would scope against those requirements.
