The North East Scotland commercial landscape
Aberdeen grew as the onshore base for the North Sea oil and gas industry, and its industrial estates at Dyce, Altens, Bridge of Don and Westhill host much of that supply chain, alongside the port and the heliport near Aberdeen Airport. The Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route connects these estates with the A90 and A96. The city’s economy is now also positioning itself for the energy transition, including offshore wind and hydrogen.
Aberdeen is also the headquarters of Great British Energy, as announced by the UK Government in September 2024, with two smaller sites in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The A90 runs south to Dundee and Perth, where it meets the M90 and the A9. Dundee combines a port, university research and a regenerated waterfront; Perth sits at a key junction for distribution to the north. Peterhead and Fraserburgh are major fishing and energy service ports. Further north, the Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport covers the ports of Inverness, Cromarty Firth, Ardersier and Nigg, with a focus on offshore wind, green hydrogen and advanced manufacturing.
Local security requirements
Typical considerations here include:
- Long distances and winter weather, which favour remote monitoring and well-planned patrol routes over frequent callouts.
- Site inductions and safety rules on energy-sector premises, which officers must complete before deployment.
- High-value tools, equipment and materials stored in yards, where off-grid camera systems or pods linked to intruder alarms can add cover.
- Empty office buildings, where insurers may require regular documented inspections.
CCTV deployments follow UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the ICO’s video surveillance guidance, which apply in Scotland as elsewhere in Great Britain.
How we mobilise and manage contracts here
North East Scotland is our furthest region, and we plan mobilisation with that in mind. After a site survey, we agree scope and assignment instructions, assign licensed officers to the contract and set a mobilisation date with you. Where a site suits it, we may recommend remote monitoring with agreed alarm response arrangements. We do not quote response times in advance.
Patrol records, incident reports and supervisory checks are reviewed centrally, with contract reviews at agreed intervals. Short-notice cover can be requested through emergency security cover, and availability is confirmed for each site.

Questions
Can you provide security in Aberdeen when your head office is in Birmingham?
Yes. Officers are assigned to each contract and supervised through our operations team.
Do you work in the oil and gas industry?
We do not claim existing energy-sector clients. Our guarding, keyholding and CCTV services can be configured for energy supply chain premises, such as yards, workshops and storage facilities, following the client’s inductions and safety rules.
Do you cover Dundee, Perth and Inverness?
Yes. All three fall within the region as defined above, and we provide services across it.
What does a vacant office inspection include?
A typical inspection checks the perimeter, doors, windows and roof access, looks for signs of entry or damage, and checks utilities for leaks or faults. Each visit is recorded and reported, and emergency remedial repairs can be coordinated through approved contractors.
